LOCATION
São José dos Campos sits
in a strategic position in the Paraíba Valley,
56 miles from São Paulo and 206 miles from
Rio de Janeiro.
It is linked to São Paulo by the
Presidente Dutra (BR-116) and Carvalho Pinto (SP-70)
highways, and to Rio de Janeiro by the Presidente
Dutra (BR-116) highway. It can be reached by another
highway, Dom Pedro I (SP-65), from the interior of
the State of São Paulo, an important industrial
consumer center. This highway also leads to Campinas
(92 miles).
São José dos Campos is
also near the ports of São Sebastião
and Santos and the beaches on the State’s northern
coast, as well as the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain
range.
It has a mild, pleasant climate throughout
the year, with an annual average temperature of 21º
C, a dry winter and rainy summer, typical of a tropical
climate.
