Originally built as the City Hall, it later housed the first high school in the municipality and the João Cursino State Primary and High School. From 1969 to 2001 it was the headquarters of the Municipal Chamber. Today it houses the Tourist Information Center (CIT), projects run by the Cassiano Ricardo Cultural Foundation, the Sport Museum and the Center of Integrated Operations (COI).
